After last night's slugfest between two heavy-hitting baseball teams, it is safe to say that Gio Urshela, is definitely, the most happy fella. In what proved to be an all-out slugfest at the dish, the New York Yankees will be advancing to the ALDS, where they will see the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Yankees and Indians were not off to the hottest start ever last night, as the scheduled 7:08 start time was pushed back for impending inclement weather. Surely enough the game would go on as planned, only to be halted again by a torrential downpour in the home half of the first inning.
The Indians lineup got to Tanaka early on, where the soon to be free agent pitcher would get hit around for a 4 run 1st inning when play would resume. He would eventually leave the game giving up 6 runs through only 4 innings pitched.
Some key Bronx Bombers were able to carry some momentum into the Game Two matchup. Giancarlo Stanton smashed his second home run of the postseason last night through 2 plate appearances. DJ LeMahieu came up clutch last night with his base hit RBI to drive in what would eventually be the game-winning run. Aroldis Chapman would pick up the win, allowing one hit and striking out 4 in two innings of work.
The Yankees have a difficult task ahead. Seeing that they went 2-8 against the club during the 2020 season, it makes you wonder if Aaron Boone will have to pull any tricks from his sleeves to get the job done. Perhaps a Clark Schmidt appearance? Only time will tell.
More details regarding the ALDS schedule and times will be released as they become available.
